A aging GDR institution (Altenheim) is undergoing transformation, turning into a community center.

The construction of the Burg Stargard Community Center, located at Market Square 7, is moving forward with a tentative topping-out ceremony scheduled for mid-September. The event marks a significant milestone in the project, with the remaining work on the new building expected to be completed by this time.

The renovation of the listed building at Market Square 7 is ongoing, with the ground floor repair of the old building currently underway. The roof truss layer above the ground floor is expected to be restored by the end of August, and work on the third building body, which will house the future sanitary facilities, is scheduled to begin at the same time.

The construction project, which began with a groundbreaking in November 2024, is estimated to continue until early 2027. The total cost of the project is around 6 million euros, with 4.7 million euros provided from federal, state, and municipal urban development funds.

Barrier-free access and fire safety are important aspects being considered in the construction project. The new building already features a staircase connecting the floors and a future connection to the old building at Market Street 7. Upon completion, the community center will serve as a meeting place for clubs and other organizations.

A new building is being constructed next to the renovated building at Market Square 5. The new community center is expected to start operating in the first quarter of 2027. However, delays in the construction schedule cannot be completely ruled out.

As of August 2025, no specific challenges faced during the project have been reported. A tender for the Burg Stargard Community Center was issued on August 14, 2025, with deadlines in September 2025, indicating that construction or related procurement activities are ongoing or imminent. This suggests that the project is active but likely still in the procurement or early construction phases, with no publicly announced opening date yet.

Official updates from the municipality or local sources would provide more precise information about the current status, timeline, and any challenges faced in the construction project of the Burg Stargard Community Center.

The restoration of the listed building adjacent to Market Square 7, a future home-and-garden store, is part of the ongoing construction project, with the ground floor repair currently underway. By the end of August, the roof truss layer above the ground floor will be restored, marking a significant step in the lifestyle transformation of the building.
