A captivating Scottish countryside escape, The Carie Estate brings the charm of Perthshire's lochside.
Historic Carie Estate Offers Tranquil Retreat in Scotland
Nestled amidst the picturesque Perthshire countryside, the Carie Estate presents a captivating blend of history and modern comfort. This 58-acre property, surrounding the majestic Carie House, boasts a rich heritage that dates back to the feudal tenure of the Clan Robertson, also known as Clan Donnachaidh or Robertson of Struan.
The stone-built steadings form an L-shape with a walled garden at their centre, while the Carie House, originally the ancient seat of Clan Robertson, has been tastefully restored five years ago. The present Carie House offers accommodation over two floors, with main reception rooms on the ground floor, and upstairs, three bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The current owners have added the bow front and the library wing to the main house, creating the current Carie House. Nearby, a small conservatory entrance hall was inserted between the house and Morag’s Cottage, one of the rented properties on the estate. Morag’s Cottage, rated 5* by Visit Scotland, includes a sitting room, dining room, fitted kitchen with loch views, two double bedrooms, and an upper galleried sitting room. The two rented cottages bring an average income of £40,000 a year.
The Carie Estate also includes a workshop, a billiard room, and a separate hay barn, all within the steadings. A pentagonal summerhouse was built by the banks of the burn 100 yards to the east of the house, providing an idyllic spot for relaxation.
The Carie Estate offers riparian rights for fishing trout and boating on Loch Rannoch, which surrounds Carie House to the north and west. The Black Wood of Rannoch lies to the south, offering stunning views and absolute privacy. Rannoch Station, with a direct sleeper service to London, is 14 miles away, while Perth is 55 miles and Pitlochry is 28 miles from Carie Estate.
In 2020, the Carie Estate was raffled off by Omaze, a fundraising platform known for charitable raffles offering prizes including historic homes. The estimated value of the estate was £4 million, garnering public attention as an opportunity to win a Scottish estate with historic significance. However, specific details about the estate's current ownership, condition, or outcomes of the raffle are not confirmed.
For those seeking a tranquil retreat steeped in history, the Carie Estate presents an unparalleled opportunity to immerse oneself in the beauty and charm of Scotland's Highlands.
The Carie Estate, despite its contemporary comforts, maintains a rich historical backdrop, making it an ideal spot for individuals seeking a tranquil lifestyle immersed in outdoor-living. The property's home-and-garden attractions, such as the walled garden, summerhouse, and various rented cottages, contribute to a picturesque and serene environment.
