Stonewater Achieves Gold Accreditation and Enhances Real Estate Sustainability
Stonewater, a prominent UK housing provider, has demonstrated substantial progress in environmental sustainability, as reflected in their latest SHIFT rating. The company's improved score of 64.8% signifies a 2.71% increase from the previous year, securing them the second position among the 40 most recent assessments.
Adam Masters, the Assistant Director of Environment & Sustainability at Stonewater, expressed his delight at the improved SHIFT rating. "We are thrilled to see our real estate sustainability efforts recognised," Masters said. "Our focus on reducing pollutants, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting waste management has yielded positive results."
Stonewater's environmental strategy, unveiled earlier this year, encompasses the management and reduction of pollutants, along with the promotion of energy efficiency and waste management. This strategy has been pivotal in Stonewater's improved performance, with the company increasing the proportion of homes rated EPC B and EPC A, and diverting nearly 90% of waste from new real estate developments from landfill.
In addition to these accomplishments, Stonewater has collaborated with the Community Forest Trust to launch a tree planting scheme. The initiative aims to offset the timber used in homebuilding through tree planting, contributing positively to the environment.
Stonewater residents have also been actively involved in local waste initiatives, participating in Recycling Week and contributing to the overall improvement of the company's environmental performance.
Consequently, Stonewater has been bestowed with a gold accreditation, further solidifying their commitment to environmental sustainability. The environmental rating given to Stonewater by SHIFT covers the financial year from April 2022 to March 2023.
Stonewater has also made ecological enhancements to 100% of the real estate developments built in the reporting period, underscoring their dedication to creating sustainable housing solutions. The company's continued focus on environmental sustainability is anticipated to drive further improvements in the future.
