In the heart of Winterlingen, a new sweet spot has become a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. Ismail Konak, the owner of a nearby bistro, opened 'Eisdiele Konak,' an ice cream parlor, in a previously empty building on Ebinger Street in 2021.
Konak's business strategy is straightforward yet effective. He aims to ensure he can pay his employees and make a small profit, all while maintaining an affordable price for his customers. The price of a scoop of ice cream at his parlor is a reasonable 1.50 euros.
The idea for the ice cream parlor had been in the works for four years, and Konak's past experiences have led him to empathize with families struggling financially. As a result, he offers free ice cream to children who cannot afford it, making his business more accessible to all.
The location on Ebinger Street is advantageous as many people stop by on their way, making it a convenient spot for a refreshing treat. The ice cream parlor is the only one in Winterlingen, setting it apart from other establishments in the area.
The ice cream parlor only operated for a few weeks in 2021, but it was a success, with positive comments on Facebook about the delicious ice cream and friendly staff. Business at Konak's bistro, which he opened in 2016, is reportedly good as well, with regular customers, including a couple from Veringenstadt who visit regularly on their bikes.
Despite its success, the future of Eisdiele Konak remains uncertain. The success of the ice cream parlor has raised the question of whether it will remain open next year. Konak, however, remains optimistic and is not afraid of customer criticism.
Interestingly, Konak had previously tried running a snack bar in the current ice cream parlor location but closed it due to staffing issues. However, the success of Eisdiele Konak seems to have overcome these challenges, as it offers up to 17 different flavors to cater to every taste.
