Auto Update: Collaboration Announced Between Bollinger Motors, Broadway Ford Truck Center, and Bergey Truck Center

In a recent development, Mullen Automotive, led by CEO and chairman David Michery, has submitted a proposal to the U.S. Department of Energy, aiming to bolster the American battery supply chain. The proposal comes in response to the funding opportunity for domestic battery materials processing launched under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in November 2023.

Michery has emphasized Mullen Automotive's commitment to domestic manufacturing, recognizing the urgency of establishing a robust U.S. battery materials processing industry. The initiative underscores the importance of this sector for sustaining the electric vehicle market and reducing reliance on foreign imports.

Meanwhile, Bollinger Motors, another player in the electric vehicle industry, has not been specifically reported to have secured federal grants for boosting US battery production. However, Bollinger’s Class 4 commercial electric truck, the Bollinger B4, qualifies for federal tax credits of up to $40,000, available to support commercial electric vehicle purchases until September 30, 2025. These tax credits are designed to encourage EV purchases but are not direct federal grants for battery production.

In addition to federal tax credits, state-level incentives are also available. New York’s Truck Voucher Incentive Program (NYTVIP) offers point-of-sale vouchers worth $85,000 to $144,000 per vehicle purchase, aimed at accelerating EV commercialization.

While Bollinger Motors indirectly benefits from these federal incentives, there is no confirmed federal grant acquisition or update on such grants specifically aimed at battery production for the company as of mid-2025. In contrast, Mullen Automotive's application for $3.5 billion in funding reflects its strategic focus on scaling operations and contributing to the nation's energy independence by strengthening the U.S. battery supply chain and supporting advanced battery and materials production.

  1. Fleet management companies in the automotive industry are looking at Mullen Automotive's proposal as an opportunity to invest in a sustainable-living approach, focusing on domestic manufacturing and energy independence.
  2. The manufacturing industry, particularly automotive and home-and-garden sectors, may witness a shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) due to the availability of tax credits and grants, as highlighted by the Bollinger B4 and the NYTVIP incentives.
  3. Meanwhile, real-estate businesses might also need to adapt their lifestyle offerings to accommodate the growing trend of EV ownership, providing charging stations and altering parking arrangements to meet the changing needs of consumers.
  4. Investors in the finance sector are closely following developments in the battery supply chain, recognizing the potential for significant returns by supporting companies like Mullen Automotive and Bollinger Motors that prioritize domestic battery production.
  5. The transportation industry, with its emphasis on reducing emissions and fostering sustainable living, will benefit from the strengthened battery supply chain, as it helps to increase the affordability of EVs and encourages a shift away from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.
  6. Businesses in the energy sector could potentially benefit from partnerships with battery manufacturers, supplying green energy solutions to power the increasing number of EV chargers and advanced battery production facilities.
  7. As the EV market continues to grow, participation in the industry (through initiatives like Mullen Automotive's proposal or EV purchases through tax credits) can help demonstrate a company's commitment to sustainability and reducing reliance on foreign imports, thereby enhancing its reputation and public image.
