The Rheydt Bike Station, located on the Rheydt Market and operated by Diakonie, has received significant support from the ALO-Fund (Unemployment Fund) in its mission to promote cycling, raise awareness about sustainable mobility, and facilitate social participation.

Thanks to the ALO-Fund's contributions, the Rheydt Bike Station now boasts a fleet of environmentally friendly transportation options. This includes an electric cargo bike and a homemade bike trailer, which are used for the eco-friendly transportation of the pavilion, tools, and materials at the station.

The ALO-Fund's involvement in the project underscores its commitment to sustainability. The funding has expanded the capabilities of the Rheydt Bike Station, enabling it to offer a wider range of eco-friendly transportation solutions at its events.

The Rheydt Bike Station's events now incorporate these sustainable transportation methods, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about and experience eco-friendly alternatives. These events aim to promote cycling in Mönchengladbach and foster social connections among cyclists.

Visitors to the Rheydt Bike Station can also benefit from free bike inspections and a "Defect Card" for professional repair at both the Rheydt and Mönchengladbach Bike Stations, without the need for a second check.

Employees from supported jobs share their experiences at the Rheydt Bike Station events, offering insights into the benefits of cycling and the importance of sustainable mobility.

The next event at the Rheydt Bike Station is scheduled for August 20th. For the most accurate and detailed information on upcoming events and benefits, we recommend checking official Mönchengladbach city websites, local cycling clubs, or the Rheydt Bike Station’s own communication channels.

Project manager Johannes Kuhn, Business Manager for the Area of Work and Inclusion at the Diakonie, oversees the Rheydt Bike Station project. The project aims to demonstrate that sustainability and social responsibility can go hand in hand, setting an example for other initiatives in the region.

By supporting the Rheydt Bike Station, the ALO-Fund is not only contributing to a greener and more sustainable Mönchengladbach, but also fostering social participation and promoting a healthier, more active lifestyle for its residents.
