Blue hues reclaimed the spotlight for the year 2026, as Dulux announced its Color of the Year, making the previously perceived outdated style of blue shades quite trendy once again.

Blue hues reinstate their popularity for the upcoming year 2026, as declared by Dulux as their Color of the Year.

In a departure from their usual practice, Dulux has chosen three Colors of the Year for 2026: Rhythm of Blues. This versatile and timeless trio is set to be a hot color trend for the coming year.

The Rhythm of Blues palette features a range of unique blues, from a soft powdery sky blue to a deep navy. The collection draws inspiration from nature, with light blues reminiscent of soothing springs or sunrise skies, and dark blues evoking the deep ocean's chilled stillness.

The three colors in the palette are Free Groove, Slow Swing, and Mellow Flow. Free Groove is a bold and bright blue, falling between royal blue and navy. Slow Swing, on the other hand, is a deep, rich blue that offers a sense of luxury and warmth. Mellow Flow is a pale blue paint with gray undertones.

According to Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director and Color Expert at Dulux, blue delivers a sense of fluidity, relief, stillness, and freedom. These colors can provide peace, as well as excitement, depending on how they are used.

Using these blues in your home can create a sense of luxury without painting walls entirely in Dulux's Slow Swing. For example, a navy table lamp or a detailed wool rug in heritage navy can add a touch of luxury without overwhelming the space. On the other hand, a gingham stool in pale blue can create a refreshing, uplifting feel that's timeless, no matter the season.

Placing a pale blue shade on a gold base creates a heritage-style piece that's timeless and chic. A chic wool throw pillow, inspired by Dulux's Free Groove, brings a pop of vibrant blue into a home without overwhelming. A rustic pitcher painted in a whimsical checkerboard print, also inspired by the Rhythm of Blues palette, adds a playful touch to any dining table.

The beauty of the blue paint family is their ability to work side by side, whether used on a window frame or as a wall color. The collection offers endless possibilities for changing the pace of a space, with colors that can soothe, steady, or excite.

So, whether you're looking to add a touch of luxury, create a peaceful oasis, or bring a pop of vibrant color into your home, the Rhythm of Blues palette from Dulux is a great place to start.
