Grand Old Grinders: Celebrating Timeworn Teczech in Brandenburg and Berlin
Mills in Brandenburger mark occasion with festivities - Brandenburg Mills Mark Special Milestone in Operations
RVing it up for Whit Monday this year? Head to Brandenburg and Berlin for some old-school tech celebration! The annual Mill Day event, a beloved quirk in the region's history, is pretty much a household name.
From the Neuruppin Neuro-Neuro Windmill in Ostprignitz-Ruppin district, putting on a sparkling 100-year anniversary, to the Saalow Spinning Wheel in Teltow-Fläming district, turning a saucy 30, it's a baker's dozen of grinders joining the party!
With mills a-plenty - 59 in total in Berlin and Brandenburg - expect gleaming water and windmills, and the occasional motorized miracle strutting their stuff, all accessed with tours and fests for the young and young at heart! The Wilhelmsaue post mill in the Oderbruch knows a thing or two about charm; offering guided spins, crafty Tetrapaks windmills for the kiddos, and a warm welcome for mill freshmen everywhere.
But the party don't stop in Brandenburg! Across Deutschland, approximately 600 captivating historical mills will fling open their doors to millrats like you! Get your first glimpse at the official joyride, happening at the upper mill and post mill in Bad Düben, Nord-Saxony.
State Culture Minister Manja Schüle, (SPD), is the proud patron of this year's Mill Day shindig in Brandenburg, extolling: "Mill orgies are more than techy wondersꟷthey've inspired creative-types to pen poems, pen songs, and create masterpiecesꟷand they still shape our identity and embody unity and unity!"
