Unleash Your Creative Sustainable Side with E-ART's Virtual & Local ART LABS!
Breaking news update: Information packed newsletter edition number 3 is at your fingertips, chock-full of fresh insights and intriguing reveals!
Hey there, artsy folks!
Welcome to the third edition of the E-ART Project newsletter! This month, we're diving into the fascinating world of virtual labs designed for reimagining sustainable artistic practices.
Sustainable Art Revolutions Begins Online
In April, E-ART hosted its inaugural E-Residency, a lively digital space bringing together Europe's finest artists, makers, and activists. For a week, participants delved into the secrets of incorporating sustainability into their artistic work, not just through materials, but by embracing values, processes, and community engagement.
Each day kicked off with a thought-provoking session led by experts from the E-ART partner organizations, followed by hands-on workshops focusing on six key material areas:
- Natural pigments and paints
- Paper
- Textiles
- Bioceramics
- Recycled plastics
- Found objects
Within each group, creative minds worked together, experimenting with techniques and tackling real-world challenges, such as waste management and the varying availability of sustainable resources in different local contexts. Group sharing at the end of each day fostered a strong sense of connection and purpose, with participants emphasizing the importance of shared spaces for fostering empathy, exchange, and collective visions for environmentally conscious art. The resounding takeaway? Sustainable art transitions need both practical tools and spaces for nurturing empathy, collaboration, and compassion.
Get Ready for In-Person Sustainable Art LABS (June-September 2025)
The success of the virtual residency has paved the way for E-ART's next phase: in-person Sustainable Art LABS. From June to September 2025, each partner nation will host an ART LAB in Italy, Greece, Spain, Sweden, Bulgaria, and Ireland.
Each five-day ART LAB promises an immersive, collaborative experience centered on sustainable artistic creation. Artists will work together using eco-friendly materials to co-create individual and collective works carrying powerful environmental and social messages. The ART LABS will feature:
- Hands-on workshops using environmentally-friendly materials
- Training sessions on sustainability in the arts
- Collaborative creation and peer exchange
- Artwork developed for inclusion in an international digital and local exhibition
Open applications for participation in each national ART LAB will be announced soon! Artists from a wide range of backgrounds, eager to explore sustainable and collaborative art practices, are encouraged to apply. Stay tuned to E-ART on Instagram and Facebook and keep an eye on our website for more updates.
