Building Association of Solingen Engaged in Savings and Construction Projects

The Savings and Building Association Solingen (SBV) is currently undertaking a significant modernization project at its Hoffeld cooperative housing estate, located in the heart of Solingen between Kotter- and Mangenberger Straße.

Built in the 1960s and 1970s, the estate consists of over 300 apartments and features green spaces, meadows, and playgrounds, making it particularly attractive to families. Since 2022, all SBV houses in the estate are undergoing extensive modernization.

In the first and second construction phases, the houses in Maurer- and Gaertnerstraße, followed by the buildings in Schreinerstraße and Damaschkestraße, are being modernized. Additionally, photovoltaic systems are being installed on many roofs. The modernization includes the renovation of outdated playgrounds, the renewal of plastic windows with pre-installed roller shutters, the renovation of balconies, the insulation of facades, and sometimes the top floor ceiling. Each apartment in the estate has a balcony.

The SBV team leader has confirmed that there is an "extra" in living quality after the dirt and noise of the modernization. The new facades of the estate are painted in the colours yellow and gray. The gas consumption of residents has been significantly reduced due to the modernization.

The modernization process has been cooperative, with almost all residents being understanding and accommodating. The settlement representative has received many positive feedbacks in the neighborhood, with many praising the new, modern, and harmonious appearance of the estate. Concerns and problems brought by the settlement representative have been discussed at eye level with the responsible employees.

One of the most exciting additions to the modernized estate will be the expansion of the outdated playground with play equipment for toddlers. The modernization is an important measure necessary due to legal requirements for cost-saving and environmental protection. The SBV has invested more than 20 million euros annually in energy-saving construction and maintenance measures.

Close exchange between the representative and responsible employees is hoped to be possible in the future, providing updates on the progress of the modernization project. If you need detailed and current information about this specific project, I recommend consulting official communications from the Savings and Building Association Solingen or directly contacting their management or project office.
