Caribbean Carnivals and Shooting Celebrations
The St. Martinus Shooting Brotherhood is set to host its annual Kirmess with Shooting Festival from August 8th to 11th in Bedburg-Hau, Germany. This four-day event is a celebration of the local culture and shooting traditions, attracting visitors from far and wide.
The festival kicks off on Friday with a children's disco at 6 pm, followed by the 19th edition of Caribbean Night at 8 pm. Tickets for Caribbean Night can be purchased online via eventfrog.de or at the box office, and admission is twelve euros. Three DJs, ITZFLASHTIME, ZandR, and Marc Basscall, will provide music for Caribbean Night, promising an evening of tropical beats.
Saturday will be filled with a variety of activities. The day will begin with the solemn proclamation of the shooting prince Arne Wessels, the youth princess Hannah Janssen, and the new royal couple Johannes and Anna Pitz, which will take place around 8 pm. The highlight of the evening will also feature the band Rendezvous, providing musical entertainment for the coronation ball. Admission for the coronation ball on Monday is free.
The brotherhood invites attendees to a family day after the service on Sunday. Coffee and cake will be served in the festival tent, along with a children's program and music for all generations. The program on Sunday, August 10th begins with a service for the shooting family at 2:30 pm.
The subsequent parade through Qualburg will be accompanied by the music ensemble of the voluntary fire brigade Kleve. Traditional marches and parades are a central part of the festival, with Brotherhood members parading in traditional uniforms, often accompanied by marching bands.
The Kirmess on Monday, August 11th is the festive highlight of the weekend. The village square in front of the church will be decorated and illuminated for the festival. A wreathing ceremony for the new royal couple will take place on Thursday evening at 6 pm, and the shooting brotherhood will solemnly pick up the new royal couple at 6 pm on Monday.
