Celebrating Half a Century of Turkey Dinner Tradition: Women's Club Turkey Dinner Anniversary

The Story Women's Club is gearing up for a special occasion—the 50th anniversary of their annual Turkey Dinner. This community event, held on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is more than just a fundraiser. It's a gathering for neighbours, friends, and families to come together and enjoy a hearty meal.

Located in the club's historic log clubhouse, built in 1930, the Story Women's Club has been a cornerstone of the community for over a century, having been founded in 1919. The club offers various services to the community, including providing dinner for bereaved families, hosting cultural arts, and serving senior lunches.

The menu for the Turkey Dinner is a traditional affair, with turkey, dressings, potatoes with gravy, vegetables, cranberry sauce, and a selection of 55 pies. For those unable to attend in person, to-go orders are available. Call 307-217-1903 to place an order before 6 p.m. Oct. 5.

Adult tickets for the event are priced at $20, while children between the ages of 6 and 10 can enjoy the meal for $10. Younger children, 5 and under, can eat for free.

Club members Sue Shrum and Patty Hoover have taken to a local platform's Public Pulse to extend an invitation to everyone to join the celebration. Sue has already begun preparations for the event, and the kitchen is bustling with activity as 20 turkeys are being prepared. Enough side dishes are being prepared to feed a community.

The Story Women's Club meets at 1:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, except in July. The clubhouse continues to serve as a gathering place, bringing the community together in fellowship and service.

In addition to the delicious meal, attendees will have the opportunity to donate to support the Story Women's Club and its community work. Let's come together to celebrate this milestone and support a valuable institution in our community. We hope to see you there!
