"Cheaters Headline Tomsk's Topor Festival"
Get ready for a week-long celebration of culture and creativity as the 16th annual International Folk Crafts Festival "Prazdnik Topora" takes place in Tomsk's Okolitsa Park from August 16 to August 24.
The festival, which was once a regional event, has grown in popularity and will now welcome guests from 46 regions of Russia and nine countries around the world. Masters of folk crafts have submitted their applications to showcase their skills and traditions.
The technical opening of the festival takes place on August 16 from 9:00 to 10:30 on the central stage of Okolitsa. The official opening follows on August 17, culminating in an evening concert by Russian singer Marina Devyatova.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy various shows, master classes, and more. Each day offers a unique schedule, with specific events taking place on different platforms. For instance, from August 16 to 20:00, masters will be working on the "Wooden Craftsmanship" and "Clay Fairytale" platforms.
On August 22, the banya platform, "National Courtyard", the start of the traditional gastro-fest "Na Topore", and the operation of platforms such as "Wooden Craftsmanship", "Clay Fairytale", "At Every Anvil Its Own Voice", and "Birch Bark Circle" will take place throughout the day.
On August 23, the annual "Skazochniy Balaganki Skomorokha" festival will join the platforms. In the evening, the Blackjack cover group will perform from 17:00 to 18:00, followed by popular Russian performers "Otpetye Moshenniki" from 20:00 to 21:00.
The festival concludes on August 24, with all platforms operating during the closing ceremony, which is scheduled from 18:00 to 21:00. Awards will be presented to the masters during this ceremony.
To ensure a comfortable experience for all guests, composting toilets have been prepared, and the park area has been treated for ticks. Work is also underway to resolve the issue of mobile internet access in Okolitsa.
