Check out Peer Wellness Coaching for a session of personal health guidance!
Despite most students not physically being on campus, the dedicated members of the RPEs (Relationship Peer Educators) are still active, maintaining a prominent presence on campus. One such initiative is the new Peer Wellness Coaching program, which offers one-on-one meetings to discuss a variety of topics.
Founded by Joy LaGrutta and Elizabeth Drexler-Hines last year, Peer Wellness Coaching is not therapy, but an opportunity to learn from a fellow peer on strategies to make the most of the Holy Cross experience. The program is led by a group of about 15 students who participated in wellness training from experts on collegiate peer to peer coaching.
The Peer Wellness Coaching program is designed to help students navigate various aspects of college life, from developing a better sleep routine to communicating needs to roommates or professors, and setting academic goals for the semester. Appointments can be booked on the peer wellness website, where individuals can choose which coach they would like to talk with and read about their interests. Meetings take place at Ciampi-Condron Hall, the new wellness housing.
In addition to the Peer Wellness Coaching program, Holy Cross University is hosting 'Fresh Check Day' on Tuesday, October 2. This mental health check-in event for students will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the Hoval. COPE (Counseling Outreach Peer Educators) will be hosting the event, which will include food, prizes, and giveaways.
The renaming ceremony for Ciampi Hall, which was officially renamed Ciampi-Condron Hall, took place on September 7, 2024. The ceremony was attended by various members of the Holy Cross community, including members of the Board of Trustees, several college deans, President Rougeau, and alumni Bob Cousy.
The Peer Wellness Coaching meetings take place at Ciampi-Condron Hall, where coaches provide a listening ear and an open mind during meetings, aiming to assist with any problems, big or small. The coaches are made up of students from different grades, clubs, and backgrounds with unique perspectives.
In the upcoming week, there is a giveaway for the first twenty individuals who sign up for Peer Wellness Coaching, and they will receive a FREE Holy Cross Sweatshirt. The RPEs can be seen at a table in Hogan or have read the Stall Street Journals posted in bathrooms around campus.
For those who wish to outline what has been concerning them, there is a brief optional survey available. It's important to remember that taking care of mental health is crucial during these challenging times, and initiatives like Peer Wellness Coaching and 'Fresh Check Day' are here to support students at Holy Cross University.
