Frankfurt, ya'll! Home to a unique open-air symphony, the Large City Chimes never fails to captivate its audience. And this coming weekend, it's about to get even more exhilarating!

From ten iconic churches in downtown Frankfurt, including the Paulskirche, Katharinenkirche at Hauptwache, Old Nikolaikirche on Römerberg, and the Imperial Cathedral's nine bells—with the Gloriosa, the city's most famous bell, weighing in at nearly 12,000 kilograms—the Large City Chimes is a spectacle you don't wanna miss!

Looking for a more captivating experience? Then buckle up, 'cause this year's Large City Chimes, ringing out between 4:30 and 5:00 PM this Saturday, is gonna be unlike anything you've heard before! Composed by members of Ensemble Modern, an international ensemble of soloists based right here in Frankfurt, the new version of the Large City Chimes will fill your senses and take your breath away.

Titled "supra urbem" ("above the city"), this mind-blowing sonic creation will echo annually on the Saturday before Pentecost. On other special dates such as Christmas Eve, the first Advent, and Easter Sunday, the traditional version—based on the work of Mainz bell expert Paul Smets and dating back to 1954—will still stand tall.

Intrigued yet? Here's how it works: each bell will sound off one by one, from the highest to the lowest tones. After around 15 minutes, these isolated harmonies will merge into the familiar, heartwarming melody we all know and love. The Large City Chimes tradition, both new and old, dates back to 1856, with the title "Large City Chimes" being added later.

So, grab your family, friends, and a comfy spot, and join the city of Frankfurt am Main this Pentecost for an unforgettable evening of urban music like no other!
