A Remarkable Collection of Classic and Retro Cars to be Sold
A unique collection of over 50 classic and retro cars, amassed over the last 30 years by a dedicated enthusiast in Ireland, is set to hit the market. The collection will be offered for sale by Vantage Classic & Sports, a Worcestershire specialist with 20 years of experience in the classic and sports car sector, 10 of which were spent at a classic car auction house.
The sale will commence in August, with a select few cars likely to be featured at the NEC for auction in November. The collection is diverse, featuring a range of makes and models, including Fords, Opels, BMWs, and more.
The collection boasts two E21 3-Series BMWs, both manual, and a now extremely rare E12 5-Series. Other notable BMWs in the collection include a 2002 Tii with an original, restored fuel injection system, an E46 M3, an Alpina B3 3.3 Coupe, a low-mileage E36 316 Coupe, a Z4 Coupe, a Z4 Roadster, and several E30s.
Ford enthusiasts will delight in the presence of a superb two-door Mk1 Escort 1300E in Copper Brown, a Mk2 Cortina 1600E, a 32,000-mile Capri, and a Fiesta Mk1 1.0 L in powder blue showing 35,000 miles.
The collection also houses several rare and hard-to-find models, such as a Manta B Silver II, several Manta As, a Kadett Coupe 1.2 S and 1.6 SR, a Monza 3.0 E, a hugely rare Olympia Coupe, and many others. Two stand-out picks of the collection are a Ford Cortina Mk3 Olympic Edition and a 1986 BMW E30 325i Hartge.
The BMW E30 325i Hartge was ordered with a plethora of Hartge upgrades and is resplendent in Malachite Green with a matching green interior, showing only 50,987 miles. Among the hotter blue ovals, there's a Mk2 Escort RS2000 Custom, a pair of Fiesta XR2s, and a 50,000-mile Focus ST225 in totally standard spec.
The automotive landscape in Southern Ireland during the '60s, '70s, and '80s was largely dominated by dealerships offering products from Opel, Ford, and Toyota. Each car in the collection (bar those awaiting restoration/completion) is a turn-key example, ready to be driven immediately.
The collection was amassed by an owner who worked at a local garage on both the pumps and the spanners, and was bitten by the car bug at a young age. The cars will be offered for sale through Vantage Classic & Sports, a UK specialist, following a common pattern for significant private classic car collections.
