Commemorates World Children's Day in Marburg

The city of Marburg is gearing up for a special celebration this September, as it marks World Children's Day on the 20th and 21st. The festivities will include two exciting events: the Intercultural Family Festival and the Children's Festival at the Waggonhalle.

On September 20th, from 2 PM to 5 PM, the Intercultural Family Festival will take place at Bürgerhaus, Goethestraße 1, 35043 Marburg-Cappel. This festival, organised by the city's youth promotion department along with multiple associations, social organisations, and cultural institutions, aims to bring together families and children in the neighbourhood, facilitate integration for newcomers, and foster neighbourly interaction.

The festival offers a varied program, featuring music, theatre, information stands, creative activities, and sporting events. Children are invited to design and build children's rights "building blocks" as "pillars of democracy". There will also be face painting, a performance by Clownin Gina Ginella, and a participatory children's disco. An art exhibition by children and young people from the neighbourhood with the theme "My (New) Neighbourhood" is another highlight of the Intercultural Family Festival.

On September 21st, from 2 PM to 6 PM, the Children's Festival at the Waggonhalle will take place. Organised by the youth promotion service of the city of Marburg together with more than a dozen clubs, social organisations, and cultural institutions as part of the Semana Latina, this event aims to highlight children's and young people's rights under the motto "Colorful Together".

Visitors can learn about the work of institutions dedicated to the well-being and development of children at the information stands. The festival also includes a child-friendly rally that connects the different stands and invites children to learn about and collect different children's rights using a children's rights passport.
