Discussion and Demonstration with Chris Bramble and Freya Bramble-Carter on Clay Live

The Ashmolean Museum is set to host an exciting event on Friday, 24th October 2025, as part of the Clay Live series. Titled "Clay Live: In Conversation and Demonstration," the event will bring together renowned ceramicists Chris Bramble and Freya Bramble-Carter, along with Natalie Melton, the Executive Director of the Crafts Council.

This 90-minute event will take place both at the museum and online via Zoom. The conversation will delve into the individual and shared journeys of Chris and Freya, touching on technique, influence, and creative collaboration. The discussion will be moderated by Natalie Melton, a long-time advocate for British craft with over a decade of experience in the sector.

Chris Bramble, an experienced ceramicist, is known for his deep, experienced craftsmanship. His sculptural works honor ancestral traditions and spiritual storytelling. On the other hand, Freya Bramble-Carter, based in London, is recognized for her bold, sculptural hand-built forms. Her contemporary approach to ceramics has earned her a reputation for creating hand-sculptures that reflect a modern edge.

Freya's work, while distinct from her father's, shares a common passion for pushing the boundaries of clay art. The event promises to offer insights into the processes that shape the acclaimed work of both Chris and Freya.

In addition to the conversation, the event will feature a live pottery demonstration, offering attendees a unique opportunity to witness the artists' creative processes firsthand.
