The Groemicz Sun Shuttle, a popular regional service known for its scenic routes and convenient schedules, is set to undergo an expansion in 2025. This extension aims to boost tourism and enhance local transit accessibility, as announced by Manfred Wohnrade, manager of the Gromitz Tourism Service.
The extended service will now cover additional stops in the northern coastal towns, expanding beyond the original service area. To cater to the increased demand, shuttles will run every 30 minutes during peak hours and hourly in off-peak times, with daily service from 6 AM to 10 PM.
The new vehicles integrated into the service are modern diesel hybrid buses, offering 44 seats, space for strollers and wheelchairs, and accommodating up to 60 standing passengers. These eco-friendly buses are designed to provide more sustainable travel and added comfort for passengers.
Manfred Wohnrade emphasised that the expansion of the Sun Shuttle is an important step towards improving sustainable mobility in Groemicz. He also mentioned that many more measures from the local development concept will follow.
To promote the extended service, the Gromitz Tourism Service is launching an extensive marketing campaign in 2025. Highly visible Sun Shuttle stops will be a key part of this campaign, ensuring easy accessibility for passengers.
Several special events in 2025 will coincide with the Sun Shuttle extension launch. On June 15, a launch ceremony and community festival will take place in Central Groemicz Plaza, offering ribbon-cutting ceremonies, shuttle rides, local music, and food stalls.
In July, a Coastal Adventure Weekend will allow explorers to discover the newly connected coastal towns via shuttle, with special guided tours and beach activities. Discounted shuttle passes will be available for this event.
September 10 will see Eco-Transit Awareness Day, featuring workshops on sustainable transportation and community clean-up events in Groemicz. Shuttle service discounts will be offered to attendees.
Finally, during the holiday season, from December 1 to 24, the Sun Shuttle will offer extended hours until midnight on weekends, with shuttle stops at key holiday markets and event locations. Festive decorations and special holiday-themed shuttle rides will add to the festive atmosphere.
