Starting next week, a comprehensive home-based preventive healthcare campaign will commence in Almaty, focusing on children and elderly citizens aged 65 and above. This initiative, aimed at enhancing accessibility to medical services, will see healthcare professionals from city clinics visiting patients at their residences instead of requiring them to travel to clinic premises.

The plan includes the formation of specialized mobile teams composed of therapists and medical specialists, as reported by Almaty.tv. These teams will conduct routine examinations, laboratory tests, and screenings at patients' homes based on their age and health conditions.

Preparations for home visits are already underway across all city clinics. This measure is intended to protect vulnerable individuals from the risk of COVID-19 transmission, as stated by Almaty Mayor Bakytzhan Sagintayev during the Akimat LIVE program. He emphasized the importance of minimizing visits to clinics to prevent the spread of infection.

The procedure for the professional examination involves the district doctor compiling a list of patients and notifying them about the upcoming screening. At the scheduled time, the mobile medical team will visit the patient at home. This team will consist of a neurologist, ophthalmologist, surgeon, therapist, and other specialists, depending on the patient's requirements.

According to Saule Madieva, deputy chief physician of City Clinic No. 4, the team will be equipped with sufficient transportation and compact ultrasound machines for the examinations. The emphasis will be on preventive screenings, including the detection of diseases at an early stage. For pensioners, this might involve checking blood sugar levels to mitigate the risk of diabetes. Over 80,000 people are expected to be covered across the city through this campaign.
