Downtown Seattle's PCC Community Markets Sets Official Opening Date for Their Store

PCC Community Markets, the organic and natural retailer based in Seattle, has reopened its downtown store on July 15, 2025, at 1320 Fourth Avenue, Rainier Square. The new store, named PCC Corner Market, boasts a smaller footprint of 6,500 square feet, a strategic move to cater to the needs of commuters, visitors, and local residents during the weekdays.

The revamped store focuses on prepared and grab-and-go foods, offering a hot bar, salad bar, fresh sushi, sandwiches, and deli items from the PCC Market Kitchen. Pantry staples such as milk, eggs, fresh produce, and a selection of beer and wine are still available for everyday essentials. The store operates weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and features electronic shelf tags for real-time pricing updates, a first for PCC.

The downtown Seattle Association has highlighted the store’s importance for the increased downtown residential and worker population. The deli area mirrors the prior store's successful fresh food section, which was a strong performer previously. Art from Andrea M. Wilbur-Sigo of the Squaxin Island Tribe will be displayed, continuing the cultural connection from the former store.

Eli Dorr-Fay, a longtime PCC staff member since 2015, has been named store manager of the PCC Corner Market. The grand opening was celebrated with free samples, live music, and giveaways for the first 50 customers.

This smaller, fresh food-centric format represents PCC’s strategic adjustment to downtown market demands while maintaining its co-op values and local community ties. The PCC Corner Market aims to reconnect with the community and create a welcoming, vibrant space that reflects the heart of the co-op.

Interestingly, PCC Community Markets experienced a rebrand and reported a modest profit last year, after a difficult 2023. The refresh in downtown Seattle is one of many updates for PCC Community Markets, which continues to expand in the Pacific Northwest.

It's worth noting that this is not the only grocery store undergoing changes; Stater Bros., Fred Meyer, Price Rite, and Natural Grocers are also making updates or expanding. PCC Community Markets was named one of Progressive Grocer's Outstanding Independents for 2025.

With the reopening of the PCC Corner Market in downtown Seattle, dedicated to providing prepared and grab-and-go options, the focus is no longer just on grocery staples, but also on home-and-garden essentials, making it a one-stop-shop for lifestyle preferences. The store's food-and-drink section, including a hot bar, fresh sushi, sandwiches, and deli items, aims to cater to the needs of the growing downtown population, while maintaining its commitment to the local community.
