Düsseldorf Spring Fair Along the Rhine Kicks Off with Excitement

The much-anticipated Düsseldorf Spring Fair (Frühlingsfest am Rhein) is now open, offering a vibrant celebration along the Rhine River. This year's fair promises a delightful mix of carnival rides, games, food, live music, and family-friendly activities.

Soaring high above the fairgrounds is the giant swing, "Excalibur," standing at an impressive 47 meters. For those seeking panoramic views, the Ferris wheel offers a breathtaking vantage point over the Rhine and the city.

Music lovers can enjoy performances from local and regional bands, DJs, and cultural shows throughout the fair. Foodies will be spoiled for choice with regional specialties, beverages, and street food available at various stalls.

Visitors can also browse through market stalls selling crafts, souvenirs, and spring-related goods. Interactive and kid-friendly attractions ensure that there's something for everyone.

As the fair takes place along the Rhine, the riverside promenade is a must-visit. Nearby attractions include the Altstadt (Old Town) and the Rheinturm tower.

The fair is open daily from 3 PM on weekdays and 1 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. It will run for 11 days, with a traditional fireworks display scheduled for Friday evening. An additional display will take place on May 2nd and 9th at dusk on the Oberkasseler Rhine meadows.

The Düsseldorf Showmen's Association is particularly excited about this year's fair, hoping to build on the success of the Easter fair that attracted almost 30,000 visitors. The Fortuna fan truck is scheduled to visit the fair on Thursday afternoon.

The fair remains lively even after dark, providing a bright and festive atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy Füchschen Alt, Schumacher, and Schlüssel Alt, as well as various food options, throughout the fairgrounds.

Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller officially opened the fair on Wednesday evening, April 30, by tapping the keg.
