In the heart of a bustling town, an annual tradition brings joy and hope to both young and old. This year, the Sternsinger action, themed "Raise your voice! - Sternsingen for children's rights", took place on January 6, 2025. Organised by the Kindermissionswerk "Die Sternsinger" and the Bund der Deutschen Katholischen Jugend (BDKJ), the event saw the visit of thirty-six Kings, Queens, and other religious figures.

The CDU faction in the city council was delighted with the visit, expressing their support for the cause. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has been in effect for 35 years, was a guiding principle for the action, reminding us that children have fundamental rights that apply worldwide.

During the action, children recited a blessing, which included the message that God loves them and that he gives them a blessing. The city dean, Frank Heidkamp, and Mayor Stephan Keller thanked the children for their commitment to the cause.

The Sternsinger's collection of donations aims to strengthen the rights of children worldwide and promote their implementation. The donation boxes contained more than just money, as people also gave crowns, baked by the local bakery Hinkel.

Mayor Josef Hinkel's office also received the blessing of the Sternsinger. The event has a long tradition and is known for bringing joy to people while also doing good for children in need.

The Sternsinger action has been ongoing for 67 years and has collected over 1.3 billion euros for aid projects for children. The need of millions of children worldwide is great, with 250 million children, especially girls, not attending school, and 160 million children working, many of whom are exploited.

Mayor Stephan Keller filled the donation box of the Kings during the action, showing his personal support for the cause. The Sternsinger's visit can be tracked to see if they have passed through a neighbourhood or if they will bring the blessing next weekend.

The Sternsinger action continues to be a beacon of hope for children in need, reminding us all of the importance of raising our voices for their rights and supporting their wellbeing.
