In the charming village of Neersen, a vibrant pop-up café and sandbox have extended their hours this summer, offering residents and visitors a welcoming gathering spot. This extension is a testament to the strong community support that has made the project possible.

The pop-up café, a community project backed by various local organisations, is now open from morning until early evening, providing refreshments and a relaxed atmosphere for all. The extended hours are made possible by dedicated volunteers who staff the café and maintain the sandbox area, as well as local businesses and neighbourhood groups that have contributed funding and donations.

Collaborative planning between the community association and municipal authorities has ensured that the space meets the needs of residents. Community events and activities, such as the annual charity tournament organised by SV Niersia Neersen for the season opening, have also helped attract visitors and foster a welcoming environment.

Other contributors to the project include Holzdesign Kloth, who built the sandbox professionally, and the St. Sebastianus Bruderschaft, who provide electricity for the café. The city marketing provides sun loungers, while the city's building yard supplies the sand for the sandbox.

Residents can collect free play sand from the sandbox on August 20, with registration required via [email protected]. Interested volunteers for the pop-up café can also contact this email address.
