European Judicial Court resumes operations in Baden-Baden
The historic Steigenberger Icon Europäischer Hof Baden-Baden, a luxury hotel that has been a landmark in the city for 95 years, has recently reopened its doors following a major ten-year renovation. However, the exact cost of the renovation remains undisclosed.
The hotel, which was acquired by H World Group in 2021, underwent a significant physical and strategic transformation. The renovation blended heritage preservation with modern luxury, using noble materials, custom furniture, and a nature-inspired palette. The result is a stunning combination of historic charm and contemporary elegance.
The renovated hotel now boasts 126 individually designed rooms and suites, and a 1,300-square-meter wellness area called The Vault Spa & Suites, inspired by Baden-Baden’s Roman bathing tradition. The reopening symbolizes a significant investment in heritage, culture, gastronomy, wellness, and business amenities, but the specific financial figures have not been reported.
The city of Baden-Baden, known for its therapeutic baths and luxury spas, hopes that the reopening of the hotel will boost tourism, potentially attracting more visitors. The city's Kur & Tourism GmbH is targeting an international and affluent clientele.
The European Court, which dates back to 1840, was the first Steigenberger hotel when it opened in 1930. Over the years, it has welcomed numerous heads of state, artists, celebrities, and even Empress Sisi. The hotel's rich history continues, as it is expected to bring new momentum to tourism in the city.
The European Court is not the only hotel in Baden-Baden undergoing renovations. The Badischer Hof, along with Brenner's Park Hotel, is also expected to reopen by autumn 2025. The reopening of these hotels is expected to have a positive impact on the luxury segment of tourism in the city.
The European Court's journey to reopening was not an easy one. Financial challenges threatened the hotel for a long time, with a Swiss investor pulling out in 2019. Finding new investors during the COVID-19 pandemic was no easy task, but the hotel has now been successfully renovated and reopened.
For those interested in experiencing the luxury and history of the Steigenberger Icon Europäischer Hof Baden-Baden, bookings are now being accepted. The hotel promises an unforgettable stay in a setting that combines the best of the past with the comforts of the present.
