Event Kicks Off Amidst Heavy Rainfall and Positive Atmosphere
The Aichacher Wiesn, a traditional Bavarian festival similar to the famous Oktoberfest, is currently underway in Aichach, Bavaria. Despite a rainy start, the festivities continue to celebrate Bavarian culture with beer tents, traditional music, folk dancing, and local food specialties.
This year, the Aichacher Wiesn lasts five days, from Wednesday to Sunday, a slight change from last year's four-day run from Thursday to Monday. The town band has taken over the musical duties at the festival, providing live Bavarian folk music for revellers to enjoy.
Saturday morning will feature a special 100th anniversary celebration of the Schützengau Aichach in the festival tent. Meanwhile, Saturday is dedicated to families, with a puppet theater and other family-friendly activities. Aichach's older citizens are invited to a chicken and drink at the Senior Afternoon on Friday.
The festivities kicked off with Mayor Klaus Habermann tapping the first barrel at the Aichacher Wiesn. Despite the heavy rain on Wednesday evening, some of the 55 participating clubs and performers arrived dry, while others got soaked. The concert on the town square went ahead despite the rain, with Simon Weiß, chairman of the Aichacher Music Association, celebrating his 40th birthday on the day of the Aichacher Wiesn.
The beer tent of the Aichacher Wiesn is flanked by an outdoor Weißbier serving station, run by the BC Aichach. Brewery CEO Franz Freiherr Groß von Trockau thanked the BC Aichach and all contributors to the festival's success.
For those interested in learning more about the history and schedule of the Aichacher Wiesn, it is recommended to check the official Aichacher Wiesn or Aichach town event websites for the most precise and up-to-date information. The Aichacher Wiesn is hosted by Lanzl-Gastronomie in cooperation with Unterbaar Brewery.
During the festival, event-goers can enjoy not only the traditional Bavarian celebrations but also embrace an outdoor-living lifestyle with the beer tent of the Aichacher Wiesn and the nearby Weißbier serving station. Additionally, families on Saturday can engage in a home-and-garden themed day, with the puppet theater and other family-friendly activities.
