Expansion Plans: Babies R Us Heading to Mexico

Hey there! Get ready for some diaper-dumping excitement because Babies R Us is set to storm Mexico! According to the bigwigs at WHP Global, they're teaming up with El Puerto de Liverpool, a swanky Mexican omnichannel retailer, to establish Babies R Us stores across the nation and an online shopping paradise.

The grand opening of the first Mexican Babies R Us store is expected in the second half of this year, followed by the debut of a flagship e-commerce platform and more brick-and-mortar stores. But, where exactly this little one will make its entrance is still under wraps - more details will be coming soon!

It looks like Babies R Us is riding high on the success of Mexico's first Toys R Us store, which opened last year and reportedly had customers going bananas about it, courtesy of WHP Global and El Puerto de Liverpool's magical partnership.

Babies R Us, one of the last surviving national big-box baby retailers in North America, went kaput when its parent company Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy back in 2017. But fear not, mamas and papas, as WHP Global breathed new life into Toys R Us and Babies R Us in 2021 when they grabbed a controlling stake in both brands.

In fact, WHP Global has been working tirelessly to revive these beloved icons, even partnering with Macy's to curate Toys R Us mini-stores within their establishments. They've also opened flagship stores at American Dream near New York City and the Mall of America near Minneapolis, with plans to open up to 24 flagship U.S. Toys R Us stores and a Babies R Us store at American Dream.

Babies R Us currently operates in over 20 countries, with e-commerce sites and more than 100 branded and independent stores. El Puerto de Liverpool is no slouch, either, with 303 stores under their namesake and Suburbia brands and 112 specialty boutiques and 28 shopping centers in 18 Mexican states.

So, get ready for some high-quality baby goods and big savings when Babies R Us arrives in Mexico!

Fun fact: WHP Global's brand portfolio, which includes Bonobos, Anne Klein, and a majority interest in Express, generates over $7 billion in global retail sales. Keep those babies coming, people!
