This traditional event, dedicated to St. Anne, the city's patron saint, takes place from the 4th to the 5th of August each year, attracting over 300,000 visitors and making it the largest inner-city fair in the Weserbergland.

Religious and Cultural Roots

The Annentag festival is steeped in history and tradition, with a solemn procession commemorating St. Anne on Sundays [1]. This procession, starting from the parish church and ending at the baroque Annenkapelle chapel, highlights the religious origins and cultural significance of the festival.

A Festival for All

The Annentag festival is a celebration for everyone. From early morning markets to late-night parties, there's something for all age groups, including families, teenagers, elderly people, and children. Pets are also welcome to join in the festivities.

The heart of the Annentag festival is the market area and chapel in Brakel's old town. On Monday, 5th August, the day kicks off with a flea and livestock market on Ostheimer Street at 7 AM, followed by the start of the fair in the city center at 10 AM.

Entertainment includes Schlager parties, DJ sets, and live performances from bands like YMO, DJ Alex B., Mike Leon Grosch, Olaf Henning, Enjoy-Partyband, and DJ D-Trex. The party continues in the La Casa tent, with events like the Super Mallorca Party and Mallorca Warm-Up Party [1].
