Florist Aster Unveils Innovative Floral Compositions and Decorative Concepts with Collaboration Partner Bark
The Dutch floral industry is abuzz with excitement as voting for the Royal FloraHolland Glazen Tulp award is currently open. This prestigious award celebrates the best in floral design, and this year's competition features a series of avant-garde designs that incorporate Marginpar's sustainably produced Asters.
One such design is the Handcrafted Refined Collar, which showcases a collar made from pine bark, adorned with Aster stems, Chasmanthium Mantis, Clematis Amazing® Kyiv, Scabiosa Virtuoso® Saura, and other flowers poking through the openings. This design not only enhances the simple pots, making them statement pieces, but it is also more practical, as it can be refreshed with new flowers.
Another standout design is the Floating Nature Suspended in Bark. This design gives a sense of lightness and is an audacious choice for installations. It features a floating piece made from two bark sections screwed together, held by coiled wires in a colored wooden board. The design includes Asters, Clematis Amazing® Havana, Clematis Amazing® Tokyo, Scabiosa Dark Cherry Scoop®, Virtuoso® Saura, and Sanguisorba Red Dream®. Interestingly, Clematis Amazing® Tokyo is also up for the Royal FloraHolland Glazen Tulp award.
The Rustic Flower Ring design is another innovative creation. It features a ring of plane tree bark around a water-filled bowl, with Asters, Clematis Amazing® Tokyo, and other flowers filling the space. The Overwritten Greeting design, on the other hand, uses plane tree bark pierced and threaded on wires, attached to colored timber.
The Spiraling Flowering Snail design, made from birch bark, is a marvel to behold. It features Asters, Clematis Amazing® Kyiv, Echinacea, and other flowers, creating a spiral that beckons a closer look.
These avant-garde floral designs were developed by a group of international floral designers competing in events such as the 2023 Dutch Flower Awards. Guided by the Hamuka Kaizen principles, Marginpar's Asters provide flexibility to create unique bark compositions throughout different seasons. The petal arrangement gains strength within the framework of the bark, creating a harmony of cultivated fineness and wilderness.
Protected Blossoms design is another unique creation where flowers are tucked into a birch bark structure, creating a protected and intimate arrangement. The Floating Nature Suspended in Bark design can also be adapted for larger scales, like event decor.
Voting for the Royal FloraHolland Glazen Tulp award is open to the public, and you can cast your vote for your favourite design. The winner will be announced soon, so stay tuned for updates on this exciting competition!
