Free Guided Tour: Bamberg Cathedral's 'Krisis' Exhibition Explores Global Crises Through Art
The Friends of the Museums around the Bamberg Cathedral invite everyone to a free guided tour of the exhibition 'Krisis. Kunst. Kirche. Kontinente. Visionen von Laudato si'' on September 18, 2023. The tour, led by museum director Carola-Marie Schmidt, will explore the international artworks addressing global crises and the need for holistic rethinking inspired by Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato si'.
The exhibition, a collaboration between the Department of Environment and Climate, the Office of the World Church, and the Diocesan Museum, features works by renowned artists like Munich's Wilhelm Holderied, known for his magical masks and large land art projects. His sculpture 'Rostiger Apotropäon' is among the pieces on display, alongside paintings and graphic works. The exhibition is divided into rooms dedicated to each continent, highlighting specific ecological and social challenges. Interactive stations encourage visitors to engage with these pressing issues. The tour meets at the cash desk of the Diocesan Museum, Domplatz 5, Bamberg, and lasts for one hour. No registration is required, and only the regular admission fees apply.
