Gallery presents new exhibition titled "By the way"
Artists Rolf Gerhards, Katja Kölle, and Joachim Brohm Unite for a Stirring Exhibition at Städtische Galerie im Park in Viersen
Prepare for a captivating artistic experience as the Städtische Galerie im Park in Viersen plays host to the joint exhibition of artists Rolf Gerhards, Katja Kölle, and Joachim Brohm. The exhibition, titled "by the way", opens on Sunday, August 31, 2025, marking the first time these three artists are exhibiting together.
Rolf Gerhards, born in Dülken, presents a series of large-format paintings inspired by a recent stay in Iceland. His works, characterised by layered colour application, create intricate vibrations between abstract and figurative elements. Gerhards' artistic focus lies in the energy of colour.
Katja Kölle, who shares a studio with Rolf Gerhards in Dülken, has developed new sound works for the Viersen exhibition. Visitors can expect a crystalline soundscape, a fragmented pseudo-architecture, sounding objects, and an audio installation on the gallery’s exterior wall. Kölle's works invite listeners to make listening itself an experience.
Joachim Brohm, born in Dülken, is presenting newly created photographic works that serve as "inserts" and have a contrapuntal effect. Art historian Fiona Pauline Borowski will guide visitors through the exhibition on the opening day, offering insights into the works of these three talented artists.
In addition to the exhibition, several special events are planned. On Tuesday, September 16, at 13:00, an art snack bar and a midday guided tour are offered for insights into the show. On Tuesday, September 23, at 15:30, an "Art Chat" focuses on exchange. The joint exhibition tour ends with coffee and cake.
Katja Kölle is also inviting to a "Sound Walk" on Wednesday, September 10, at 15:00. Art historian Artur Becker will guide visitors through the exhibition on Sunday, September 21, and the last day of the finissage on Sunday, October 19.
Viersen's mayor, Sabine Anemüller, will welcome guests on the opening Sunday at 11 am. This promises to be an unforgettable exhibition, bringing together the unique artistic visions of Rolf Gerhards, Katja Kölle, and Joachim Brohm.
