Volunteer Employees Gather for Networking Event in Kleve

Last Monday, the AOK house in Kleve played host to a joint networking event organised by WTM and WFG. The event brought together more than 20 volunteer employees who work tirelessly to provide valuable insights and a warm welcome to guests visiting the tourist information centers in Kleve and Emmerich am Rhein.

The managing directors, Verena Rohde (WTM) and Sara Kreipe (WFG), welcomed the attendees, setting the tone for a productive and engaging day. The event offered a platform for exchanging experiences and discussing challenges in working at tourist information centers, as well as a practical and engaging training session focused on service quality and communication with guests.

The volunteer employees, who are the friendly face of the cities according to Martina Gellert, head of tourism & leisure at WTM, play a crucial role in enhancing the visitor experience. They provide local information, maps, event details, and personalized recommendations, as well as helping to organize events, promote local attractions, and support the daily operation of the centers.

Dr. Manon Loock-Braun, deputy manager and head of tourism at WFG, highlighted the importance of volunteering for maintaining a continuous and personal presence in tourist information centers. Harald Muenzner, responsible for public relations, culture, and tourism at the city of Kalkar, was the speaker at the event.

New contacts were made during the event over coffee and cake, and the day ended on a positive note with the announcement of future meetings. Interested individuals can contact the tourist information center in Kleve at 02821 84806 or [email protected], or the tourist information center in Emmerich am Rhein at 02822 931040 or [email protected] for more information about these meetings and how to get involved.

The AOK in Kleve provided the event space, and the volunteer employees expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to come together, share ideas, and gain new impulses for their work. The event was a testament to the power of volunteering in fostering a sense of community and enhancing the tourist experience in Kleve and the surrounding areas.

The volunteer employees, who offer a friendly face and contribute to sustainable living by providing local information and organizing events, found the networking event invaluable for sharing ideas and gaining new impulses for their work. Moving forward, they could potentially contribute to the home-and-garden sector by implementing sustainable living practices in their extension of services, such as promoting eco-friendly destinations and advocating for sustainable lifestyle choices within the visitor community.
