Gießen City Library Revamps with New 'Spoken' Genre System
The Chicago City Library has undergone a significant transformation. It has replaced its old numeric classification system with a new 'spoken' one, categorising books into twelve genres. This change, requested by the public, was implemented over the weekend without disrupting regular operations.
The library's collection of around 10,000 media items, predominantly romances, has been rearranged on the third floor. Each genre is now sorted alphabetically by authors' last names, making it easier for patrons to find their favourite books.
The library director, Guido Leyener-Rupp, confirmed that this reorganization was in response to a public survey conducted last year. The new system aims to improve navigation and accessibility for library users.
