🌲 DIY Wood Slice Coasters: An Outdoor Enthusiast's Winter Craft 🌲

Looking for a quick and easy DIY project to spruce up your home decor? These DIY painted wood slice coasters are the perfect winter craft for any nature lover like me! After all, I do have a Forestry degree, and I adore anything woodland-themed. Here's an approachable guide on how to create your own.

Gather Your Stuff

Before you get started, remember: joint adventure calls for a great pile of materials! Here's a list of the essentials you'll need:

  • Wood slices (found at Michaels, or use your own)
  • Amazon offers a vast selection of stencils, but I carefully picked mine from a Martha Stewart holiday pack.
  • FolkArt Multi-Surface acrylic paint — select colors that suit your aesthetic.
  • Foam spouncers (or brushes if you prefer)
  • Stencil tape or washi tape for adhering the stencils
  • An optional waterproof sealer for additional protection

Unwrap Your Creative Spirit

Open the package carefully, and wouldn't you know it, the wood slices are ready to work with right out of the plastic wrap! If you're lucky enough to have access to a tree, go ahead and cut your own wood slices for that rustic touch.

Stencil Time

Select a theme and design that catches your fancy using the eye-catching Martha Stewart stencils. Use washi tape to secure them in place on your wood slices. Then, using your foam spouncers, bring your coasters to life with splashes of color!

Remember, applying several thin layers is better than one thick layer to prevent the paint from seeping under the stencil. Once you're done, peel up the stencil and let the coasters dry. If you've chosen the multi-surface paint, no need for further sealing, but feel free to add one if you'd like.

And here you have it! Your DIY painted wood slice coasters are now complete and ready to be admired. As a lovely gift idea, these phenomenal, speedy-to-make coasters are sure to be a hit, especially because everyone will appreciate wood slices on their tables!
