Top Picks: Noah and Emilia Lead the Pack in Rhineland-Palatinate's Baby Names for 2024
Rhineland-Palatinate Regions Witnesses Noah and Emilia as the Preeminent Baby Names in 2022 - In Rhineland-Palatinate, Noah and Emilia are the top-ranked names for newborns
Got a baby on the way in Rhineland-Palatinate? You're not alone! According to the Society for the German Language (GfdS), Noah and Emilia are the most popular first names for your little one in 2024.
Last year, Matheo and Sophia topped the list. This year, though, they've been dethroned, with Noah and Emilia taking the crown. But don't fret, Matheo and Henry snagged the second and third spots for the boys, while Emma and Sophia also made the top three for girls.
Nationwide, Sophia and Noah Stand Tall
Interestingly, Sophia and Noah are nationwide heavyweights, too. Across Germany, new parents have been choosing these top-notch names more than any others. "I reckon the staying power of these names is due, in large part, to their robust sound," explained GfdS Managing Director Andrea Ewels in Wiesbaden.
The GfdS has been keeping tabs on popular baby names across Germany since 1977. They gathered data from around 750 local registration offices, which provided nearly 900,000 entries. That's almost 92 percent of all names given in Germany in 2024!
