JRHT to Build 114 Affordable Homes in York, Including Specialist Disability Housing
Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) is set to address York's affordable housing shortage with a significant development. The project, a mix of 1, 2, 3, and 4-bed properties, will see around three fifths available for social rent. The Trust's Deputy Director, David Boyes-Watson, has expressed commitment to delivering more affordable homes in the city.
The development, planned on Green Belt land at the city's edge, includes 114 homes for sale. It will feature a landscaped setting with tree planting and public use areas. Among the homes for sale, 14 bungalows are proposed to cater to the needs of people living with disabilities in York. Following a public consultation, a planning application will be submitted to the City of York Council. A public exhibition of the project is scheduled for 2 March at York College.
JRHT's plans aim to contribute to York's affordable homes for sale delivery. The project, if approved, will provide a mix of homes for sale, including specialist accommodation for those with disabilities. The development will also enhance the area with landscaping and public spaces.
