Kentucky Arts Council Presents Governor's Derby Exhibit 'Spring is Here'
The Kentucky Arts Council has announced the Governor's Derby Exhibit, set to run from April 30 to May 29, 2025, in the Capitol Rotunda. This free, open-to-all event showcases local art, with the theme 'Spring is Here'.
Artists aged 18 and above are invited to submit up to two original two-dimensional artworks, reflecting the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of Kentucky's springtime. The artwork must not exceed 36 inches in height or width, weigh more than 25 pounds, or have a depth of more than 6 inches. Submission is free, and artists can choose to sell their work.
Selected pieces must remain in the exhibit for its entire duration, even if sold. Accepted artwork should be securely wrapped and packed in a box, ready for delivery or shipment to the Kentucky Arts Council office in Frankfort on April 22 or 23, 2025. Digital images of the work, as JPEGs at 300 dpi and approximately 10 inches on the longest side, must be submitted via an online application form by April 3. Artists will be notified of selection via email by April 11.
The exhibit, held in the Capitol Rotunda, offers a unique opportunity for Kentucky visual artists to display their art and share their interpretation of spring with the public. Visit the Kentucky Arts Council for more details and to submit your application.
