Museum City Lünen partakes in an open commemoration day event
The Museum Stadt Lünen is set to be a hub of artistic and historical activities on the 13th and 14th of September, 2025, as part of Lünen's Day of Open Heritage.
The highlight of the event is a painting workshop titled "What's Priceless to Me", which will be held at the Museum Stadt Lünen on both days. No registration is required for this workshop, and it is open to individuals aged six and above. The artwork created during the workshop will be displayed directly in the museum garden.
Alongside the painting workshop, the Museum Stadt Lünen will also offer guided tours of Villa Urbahn, a protected heritage site designed by Anton Huber in 1925. The distinctive Zöllingerdach of Villa Urbahn was used as a residential and practice building for three generations. Each guided tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and will take place on both days at 1 pm and 3 pm.
Villa Urbahn has been a protected heritage site since 2017 and is located at Graf-Adolf-Straße 36, within the Museum Stadt Lünen premises.
The Museum Stadt Lünen will be open from 10 am to 6 pm on both days, and entry is on a "pay what you want" basis.
Several Lünen heritage sites are participating in this year's Day of Open Heritage, with the theme being "Priceless: invaluable or irreplaceable?". Besides Museum Stadt Lünen, specific additional institutions in Lünen participating in the event on the 14th of September, 2025, are not explicitly listed. However, the Day of Open Heritage involves thousands of monuments and many sites nationwide, offering historical buildings, churches, and museums accessible for tours or events on that day across Germany.
Children must be accompanied by a guardian to participate in the painting workshop. An overview of all open heritage sites in Lünen can be found at www.tag-des-offenen-denkmals.de.
On these special days, the Museum Stadt Lünen invites everyone to explore, create, and appreciate the priceless heritage of Lünen.
