Music resonates through the stands: charity concert aiding the South Soup Relief
In the heart of Harburg, a small but impactful initiative called "South Soup" has been serving the community since March 2023. Unlike the upcoming "Soup Sounds" event, "South Soup" does not require admission or donations, nor is it a benefit event. Instead, it was initiated to help those in need in the Harburg area.
Sabine Rudolph, a local resident, took the first step in starting the "South Soup" project. Every Saturday, a small team prepares and serves free soup from 12 to 2 PM at the St. Johannis Church, located on Bremer Straße 9. The demand for such soup kitchens in southern Hamburg, particularly on weekends, is high.
While "South Soup" does not have a specific lineup or musical performances like the "Soup Sounds" event, it provides a warm meal and a welcoming environment for those who need it most. The current situation in Harburg is challenging, with rising food and energy prices, homelessness, and loneliness exacerbated by the Corona pandemic.
The "Soup Sounds" event, on the other hand, is a separate initiative. Scheduled for June 29 at the Stellwerk Harburg, it features a lineup of Working Advocates, Drachenflug, The Menace of Tyranny, Cedric Saga, and Qukser. Admission to this event is free, but donations are appreciated, with the proceeds going towards supporting local charitable services.
For those interested in learning more about the "South Soup" soup kitchen and the "Soup Sounds" benefit event, checking local Harburg community websites, social media channels, or direct news sources from the region would be necessary. Both initiatives play a crucial role in addressing the needs of the Harburg community, offering support in different but equally important ways.
The "South Soup" project, distinct from the "Soup Sounds" event, offers an 'Other' lifestyle choice for those in need in Harburg, providing a free and welcoming 'home-and-garden' every Saturday at the St. Johannis Church. Conversely, the "Soup Sounds" event, scheduled for June 29, offers a different kind of support with musical performances and a separate lineup, donations from which will contribute to 'home-and-garden' charitable services in the region.
