Brenkenhagen's Annual Summer Festival Celebrates Local Traditions and Marksmanship
Last weekend, the picturesque village of Brenkenhagen in Germany played host to its annual summer festival and shooting competition. This longstanding local tradition, known as a Schützenfest, is a unique blend of community celebration and marksmanship, reflecting a rich cultural heritage that is common in many German towns.

The king's shot was not achieved until 19:45, and the new shooting king was comrade Nils Petersen.

Winners of the competition often receive honorary titles such as the Schützenkönig, a symbolic role celebrated during the festival period. This year, Joachim Plath was appointed senior firefighter and awarded the Ostseeflut 2023 honorary badge. Christian Becker was also honoured for 10 years of active service in the fire department.

The festival attracts visitors from surrounding areas, providing economic benefits for local businesses and raising the profile of Brenkenhagen. This year, 11 flag-bearing delegations, members of neighboring fire departments, and many locals and guests participated in the festival parade, which was accompanied musically by the fire music corps of the community fire department of Grömitz. The festivities continued into the early morning hours with DJ "Kazz."
