In the small town of Drebkau, located in the Spree-Neiße district of Germany, residents were informed of an unexpected water outage that occurred from Thursday night to Friday morning. The Lausitzer Wasser GmbH (LWG) announced the water disruption, which was caused by the construction of a new booster station.

The water outage began at 10:00 PM on Thursday, August 8th, 2024, and was scheduled to last until approximately 6:00 AM on Friday, August 9th. Approximately 170 households in the districts of Auras, Löschen, and Schorbus will be affected by the disruption.

The LWG recommended that all affected households fill up on drinking water beforehand, as the water outage may affect the drinking water supply. Residents were also informed that the water may initially appear cloudy upon restoration, but this is reportedly harmless to health. Additionally, the water pressure may seem slightly weaker at first after the water outage.

The nighttime hours for the water outage were chosen to minimise disruption, as many businesses and schools would be closed during these hours. The construction of the new booster station is the cause of the water outage, and the LWG is responsible for the necessary repairs.

The LWG apologised for any inconvenience caused by the water outage and assured residents that they are working diligently to restore the water supply as quickly as possible. Residents are encouraged to check the LWG's website or contact their customer service line for updates on the restoration process.

The water supply in Drebkau is expected to return to normal by Friday morning, and residents can look forward to a more reliable water supply with the completion of the new booster station.

The unexpected water outage has disrupted the routine of households in Auras, Löschen, and Schorbus, affecting their home-and-garden chores and daily lifestyle. To cope with the disrupted water supply, residents must adapt their lifestyles temporarily, filling up on drinking water and preparing for potentially initial cloudiness and reduced water pressure upon restoration.
