In the lead-up to the UEFA Euro tournament, Düsseldorf showcases its vibrant urban art scene and rich pop culture. Boris Bartels, from marketing agency dreimarketing, highlights the city's distinct offerings, asking, "What more can we present to our European guests beyond mere sports?"

To answer this question, Bartels, along with Visit Düsseldorf and the Düsseldorf Budchen Day association, spotlights the local art and culture scene. Four murals created by artists from the nations participating in the tournament will be displayed across the city, including Inselstraße 1a, Kaiserstraße 27, Köln/ Ecke Kruppstraße, and Rather Straße 25. These vibrant paintings, according to Ole Friedrich of Visit Düsseldorf, will remain as permanent additions to the city's tourist attractions.

As part of the festivities, "That's Budchen" will be held at Corneliusplatz during the five match days (17th, 21st, 24th June, and 1st and 6th July). The event will feature Rhine region Budchen culture, alongside HipHop, Reggae, cover songs, and psychedelic tunes from local bands and artists. The celebrations will take place from midday to midnight at the Eisele press pavilion, with an additional music program at the Reeser Platz fountain on the way to the arena.

"That's Budchen" will be surrounded by an art action curated by gallery owner Klaus Rosskothen. Artists will create placards on-site each match day, which will then be exhibited around Corneliusplatz as an open gallery.

As a host city for the UEFA Euro tournament, Düsseldorf aims to perfectly intertwine the sporting event with the city's essence, as expressed by EURO project manager Thomas Neuhaüser, "These excellent actions bring our motto 'Everybody's Home Game' to life at every corner of the city."

Düsseldorf's cultural and art events during the tournament reflect its multicultural, creative, and youthful spirit, offering a glimpse into the city's dynamic urban art scene and global pop culture influences. The city's events embrace both tradition and modernity, appealing to diverse audiences and showcasing its capacity to host large-scale, creative events that intersect with sports, technology, and the arts.
