Ohio State Athletic Director explains reporting of Dave Portnoy's prohibition from Ohio Stadium

Dave Portnoy, the outspoken Barstool Sports founder and Fox Sports analyst, will not be attending the highly anticipated Ohio State vs. Texas game in Week 1 of the 2025 college football season. Despite initial reports suggesting a ban by Ohio State, the university has denied these claims.

Portnoy, a well-known alumnus of Michigan, has never hidden his disdain for Ohio State. His contentious relationship with the university reached new heights when he launched a social media attack on the Buckeyes, referring to their coach, Ryan Day, as "crying" and asserting that Michigan has dominated Ohio State.

Ross Bjork, Ohio State's athletic director, clarified that the decision to exclude Portnoy from the main desk of Big Noon Kickoff was made by Fox Sports, not Ohio State. Bjork stated that those not on the main desk of Big Noon Kickoff do not typically appear on the field.

Portnoy's brand with Barstool Sports is based on a raw and unfiltered approach to media, which is not typically seen on a professional broadcast. This dynamic, coupled with his outspoken views, has made his presence on Big Noon Kickoff intriguing.

In response to his ban, Portnoy filmed his reaction wearing a Michigan hat and expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision. Despite his absence, Portnoy is rooting for the Big 10 in the Ohio State vs. Texas game.

As for Portnoy's Fox Sports debut, it has been delayed to Week 2. The network has not yet decided on a host site for 'Big Noon Kickoff' in Week 2. Another ex-Wolverine, Charles Woodson, will be on the broadcast.

The Ohio State vs. Texas game is set to be the biggest matchup of Week 1, with both teams aiming to start the season with a victory. The decision that Portnoy would not join the Big Noon desk live at the Ohio State vs. Texas game appears to have been made by FOX, as Portnoy will not join the Big Noon desk at any stadium this season.

In a twist of irony, another ex-Wolverine, Charles Woodson, will be on the broadcast, adding to the Michigan-Ohio State dynamic. As the college football season unfolds, the saga surrounding Portnoy's absence from the Ohio State vs. Texas game continues to be a topic of interest and debate.
