Over a thousand young individuals contributing to the progress of the Almaty region
Zhasyl El Program in Almaty Region Empowers Youth and Enhances Environmental Awareness
The "Zhasyl El" program, a key component of Kazakhstan's national "Taza Qazaqstan" program, has been instrumental in providing seasonal work and educational opportunities for young people, particularly those from socially vulnerable groups, in the Almaty Region.
Over the past three years, approximately 3,000 young people have found employment under the "Zhasyl El" program in the Almaty Region. Notably, 70% of these young people reside in rural areas, reflecting the program's commitment to reaching and supporting disadvantaged communities. This year, the program aims to employ over 1,000 young people aged 14 to 35.
The "Zhasyl El" program is not just about employment. It also integrates educational components, such as working in green brigades and participating in awareness campaigns that promote sustainable practices and environmental care. This dual focus helps raise young people's awareness about Kazakhstan’s environmental challenges while simultaneously improving public spaces and supporting community development.
Each participant will receive around 85,000 tenge per month and will be provided with special uniforms. The work will be carried out in nine districts and two cities of the Almaty Region. The season for this employment will last for two months.
The regional administration highlights the benefits of the "Zhasyl El" project for the Almaty Region, as it not only beautifies cities and villages but also teaches youth work skills, organizes their summer free time, and fosters a responsible attitude towards the environment.
Participants will engage in beautification and greening of territories, as well as cleaning of public zones. Last summer, on the first day of the season, young people cleaned the shoreline of the Kapchagay Reservoir and participated in an awareness campaign on environmental culture and prevention of environmental pollution.
The "Zhasyl El" project is a significant step towards societal inclusion of disadvantaged youth and the greening and beautification of regions like Almaty, making it a key vehicle for social and environmental progress.
