Gardening with King Charley and Queen Cammy: Kickstarting the Social Soiree Season

Commencement of garden party events mark beginning of the season - Party time in the garden is upon us.

Get your lawn chairs ready, it's time to party like a royal! The first garden soiree of the year at Buckingham Palace took place on May 7th, and it was none other than King Charles III (76) and his bombshell Queen, Camilla (77), who graced the event with their presence. Other high-ranking members of the comical crème de la crème joined the fun too!

King Charles, with a hint of fashion-forward flair, rocked a sleek grey cutaway coat and a spiffy black top hat – the perfect garden party attire for the dapper gentlemen. The style code for the ladies is just as classy: dresses with either hats or fascinators, or national dress and uniforms. Queen Camilla dazzled onlookers in a striking dark turquoise ensemble by Christian Dior, teamed with a fabulous wide-brimmed hat by Philip Treacy. The color combo matched perfectly with Charles' light blue waistcoat and pocket square. The crew was joined by Princess Anne (74), Prince Edward (61), Duchess Sophie (60), and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

This wonderful event, resembling a sophisticated cocktail party in a picturesque garden, dates back to the 1860s! Aside from being a gardening extravaganza, it serves as a meaningful occasion for our monarch to show gratitude to the outstanding members of their community who make a difference and to celebrate public service. Each year, around 30,000 lucky guests are invited to these fabulous fêtes.

The palace gates open at 3 pm local time, followed by the royal family's arrival and the national anthem's melodious strains, played by a military band. The festivities then commence with guests indulging in scrumptious cake and tea, exploring the enchanting palace gardens, and perhaps even engaging in a delightful chat with one of the regal family members.

More Garden Parties in the Works

Tidings reveal that Buckingham Palace has unveiled an intriguing garden party lineup for this summer:

  • On May 7th at the heart of London, it's the very first bash at Buckingham Palace.
  • On May 20th, the night is still young at the same location.
  • The grand finale will take place on July 1st at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in the venerable village of Edinburgh, Scotland.

In addition to these posh parties, two themed garden soirees have been announced:

  • On May 14th, the “Education and Skills” garden party will occur at Buckingham Palace, with 7,000 guests from the edu-sphere getting together to commemorate their contributions and hard work in the educating game.
  • Two days later, on May 16th, Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester (78), will take the reins and host the annual garden party of the Not Forgotten Association at the palace. This organization, primarily focused on providing entertainment, leisure, and recreation for former military personnel and those currently in service, promises an unforgettable event.

So there you have it, sweet pea! Get your glad rags on and join the royal revelry at the garden parties of the season!
