Rare, unavailable printed literature
The City of Landshut is gearing up for the annual Auserlesen Youth Book Prize, an event that aims to promote reading and literature among young people. This year, the award ceremony will take place on Thursday, 25th September, at 6:30 PM in the City Library Weilerstraße.
The event is open to all guests, not just students, and registration is a must due to limited seating. You can register via the media portal at www.medienportal.our website or by phone at 0871-71054.
For several months, the Youth Reading Club of the City Library has been busy reading, discussing, and evaluating current youth books. This year, they have chosen the top three youth books from the 2024 new releases, away from mandatory reading and bestseller lists.
The Youth Reading Club has been part of the German Youth Literature Prize jury since 2003, taking a break from 2008 to 2022, and has resumed its role since 2023. The club's patron is Mayor Alexander Putz, taking over from the former patron, Mirjam Pressler.
The award ceremony will be hosted by the youth themselves, making it an exciting and engaging event for all attendees. After the presentation of the winning books, a champagne reception will follow, providing a perfect opportunity for networking and discussions.
The Auserlesen Youth Book Prize has been awarded annually since 2009, and its goal is to open young people's access to literature and promote reading on a broad scale. So, students and anyone interested are invited to find out which youth books excited Landshut's youth the most in 2025.
Don't miss out on this exciting event! Register now and join us in celebrating the power of literature and the joy of reading.
