Regensburg District Continues Cleanup Efforts, Achieves "World Cleanup Community" Status

The Landratsamt Regensburg, located in the district of Regensburg, Germany, is inviting registrations for upcoming cleanup actions. These actions, a fixed institution in the organization since 2005, aim to reduce waste in collection areas and contribute to a cleaner environment.

The district's commitment to waste avoidance and environmental education was highlighted when it registered the action "The district cleans up" for the World Cleanup Day, earning it the prestigious title of "World Cleanup Community" in the summer of 2023. This certification places the district among a growing number of communities worldwide taking active steps towards environmental preservation.

Registrations for these cleanup actions must be received by the Landratsamt Regensburg before the start of the action. Citizens, associations, and schools in the district are encouraged to participate. Those interested can find further information and the registration form at www.landkreis-regensburg.de/buergerservice/abfallratgeber/rama-dama/.

The World Cleanup Day, taking place on September 20, 2023, is the world's largest citizen movement for environmental pollution and plastic waste removal. The district's cleanup actions are conducted under the motto "The district cleans up" or "Rama dama".

Participants in the actions can rest assured that the district ensures the disposal of residual waste, allowing groups to hand in the collected waste without any problems. Collected recyclables are separated and fed to recycling via recycling centers.

County Councilor Tanja Schweiger honors the commitment of the participating groups every year with a drawing of attractive prizes for young and old. Over 170 groups have already participated in the "Rama dama" action this year.

Questions about the action can be directed to the department of waste management at 0941 4009-368 or at [email protected]. The district's ongoing efforts towards waste reduction and environmental education are a testament to its dedication to a clean and intact environment.
