Sewing Bee's Great British Series 11 for 2025: A Summary Recap
The Great British Sewing Bee returned for its eleventh series on July 15, 2025, with host Sara Pascoe back after her maternity leave. Judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant were once again ready to put the contestants' sewing skills to the test.
Twelve contestants competed in the series, including Saffie (eliminated in week 2), Peter (eliminated in week 2), Glendora (left in week 3 due to illness), Novello (eliminated in week 4), Jess (eliminated in week 5), Dan (eliminated in week 6), Stuart (eliminated in week 7), Gaynor (eliminated in week 8), Kit (eliminated in week 9), Orla, Caz, and Yasmin (the finalists).
In the first episode, the contestants made a Tie front blouse, a circle skirt, and a made-to-measure pleated dress. The Made to Measure challenge in the same episode tested their creativity as they had to design an outfit inspired by a pop art movement.
The pattern challenge for Episode 2 was a 7-panel cap, and for Episode 3, it was a Diane von Furstenberg iconic wrap dress. In Episode 4, the contestants made a traditional Korean short jacket and dress called a Jeogori.
The transformation challenge in Episode 7 was to turn paint-spattered clothing into an asymmetric garment, while the Made To Measure challenge was to design an outfit inspired by a character from a horror movie. In the same episode, the pattern challenge was a Grayson Perry inspired dress, and the contestants had to turn maternity wear into playwear.
Fashion designer Victoria Jenkins, a specialist in adaptive clothing, joined the judges for Episode 6. The pattern challenge for that episode was to make adaptive dungarees using a burgundy floral needlecord fabric. The transformation challenge was to turn multiple sheer pieces of clothing into a cohesive outfit.
In Episode 8, the pattern challenge was to recreate the jacket worn by Tippi Hendren in Alfred Hitchcock's film The Birds. The transformation challenge was to turn red cinema curtains into glamorous outfits fit for a Hollywood party.
The pattern challenge in the semi-final (Episode 9) was to make the bias cut slip dress with unforgiving spaghetti straps, while the Transformation Challenge was to make garments from multiple sheer pieces of clothing.
Caz's winning Made to Measure was inspired by her own open heart surgery. In the Made To Measure challenge of Episode 9, the contestants were asked to create an outfit suitable for a 1920s party. The transformation challenge in the semi-final was to make garments from multiple sheer pieces of clothing.
The finalists produced some win-worthy garments, but Caz was crowned the winner. She created her winning Made-to-Measure outfit by meticulously designing and sewing a tailored garment that perfectly fit the model, showcasing advanced fitting techniques and attention to detail. The series was a testament to the contestants' creativity, skill, and dedication to sewing.
