The recently opened Biblioteka Coffee in Krasnodar, Russia, offers a unique blend of coffee culture, reading, and music, all under one roof. The brainchild of KIDZ Studio, the design harmoniously balances quiet reading spaces, music zones, and coffee culture, creating a sensory environment that is both inviting and stimulating.
The material palette is carefully chosen to enhance the overall coffee experience. Wood veneer creates intimate pockets for reading, while metallic elements enhance the listening experience. The design respects the culture of each element: coffee, books, and vinyl, ensuring that each space caters to its unique needs.
Natural light integration keeps the cafe connected to the city rhythm while maintaining an intimate atmosphere. The lighting design layers task and ambient lighting to support different activities throughout the day. Sound-absorbing materials in reading areas allow for concentration, while harder surfaces in music zones provide clarity for vinyl.
The custom shelving system serves as both display and room divider, creating distinct zones for reading and listening. The space acknowledges the need for both social and solitary experiences, catering to different preferences and moods.
KIDZ Studio has created a design that is contemporary and timeless. The design is a gentle reminder that the best cafe design prioritizes user experience. The shared options for social media, email, and printing are provided, along with additional sharing options for Telegram, Threads, WhatsApp, Mastodon, Bluesky, and Nextdoor.
The environment of the cafe makes moments even better. The auditory element of music (vinyl rhythms) meets the tactile and visual comfort of reading spaces, simultaneously supporting the coffee culture’s social and contemplative aspects.
Sasha Kabashnaya and Dasha Lebedeva from KIDZ Studio designed the cafe. Their design balances the tension between quiet reading spaces and areas for playing vinyl, making Biblioteka Coffee a "sensory haven" for coffee, book, and music lovers alike.
