The Sorbian National Ensemble (SNE) is set to captivate audiences with a diverse and engaging programme for its upcoming season. Here's a sneak peek at some of the key events and productions that are set to take place.

Starting from October 4, the music theater production "Neuland" will have two premieres in one evening. The programme includes the singspiel "Die Fischerin" by Emilie Mayer, based on a Goethe text, and the grotesque "Ptačk architektki" ("The Bird of the Architect") by Sorbian poet Róža Domašcyna.

On a family-friendly note, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of comic heroes Abrafaxe from the magazine "Mosaik" is planned. This special event promises to be a fun-filled afternoon for all ages.

For those who love fairy tales, "Müschen impossible" is an odyssey not to be missed. This production, scheduled for the "Spreewald Fairy Tale Night 2026", aims to save the Spreewald and its fairy tales, legends, and myths from the plans of a wealthy entrepreneur.

The holiday season will be filled with festive cheer as a Christmas play is also planned as part of the National Ensemble's new season.

In a unique collaboration, the ballet of the National Ensemble will join forces with the dance company of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau on the dance project "Between Us" (premiere: April 29, 2026).

For music lovers, the SNE choir and orchestra will collaborate with the Queen tribute band MerQury to remember rock musician Freddie Mercury on August 27. This special event is a tribute to the legendary rock poet Gerhard "Gundi" Gundermann, who would have turned 70 this year.

The first premiere of the season, "Romanian Nights", will be presented on August 22 and 23 at the Schmochtitz Music Festival. This showcase promises to highlight the cultural wealth of the Balkans.

A children's program is also part of the National Ensemble's offerings, but details about this event are yet to be revealed.
